The Trinity Alliance Project

The new Giant Trinity Alliance frameset came home on Friday February 27. Little by little the project came together and the first workout was on March 9, 2009.

I cut the steer tube to size with a pipe cutter and the cut was perfect. I did goof up the star-spangled nut install. Good thing I left the tube plenty long (and I likely will cut it shorter eliminating the part that the star-spangled nut is stuck in). I did not have the right tool and ended up getting it cockeyed. Then I tried to straighten but kept driving it deeper. Then I used the bolt to try to straighten it and bent the bolt so it is not perfect, but does function.

I cut the seat post to size by using a cutting attachment on my Dremmel. Use a mask, gloves, dust mask, when cutting carbon fiber. I had to do it twice because I didn't take enough off the first time.

Pretty cool looking bike. I am very comfortable on what appears to be a very good aero position. In fact this is the coolest bike I have ever ridden, bar none. Wing/teardrop shaped tubes, top tube like a fuselage and many little aero details all over the frame set. Top is carbon fiber, bottom aluminum in a very nice blend.

I'm pretty excited about having this hot rod to ride all season in my TT get up.
